먼 대륙의 지평선을 바라보며, 그곳에서 뛰노는 호랑이와 펄럭이는 깃발을 상상한다. 이 상상은 꼬리에 꼬리를 물고 시가 되었다. 

《나의 자유시》는 이처럼 끝없이 펼쳐지는 초록색 땅 위의 서사들을 주제로 한다. 지구 반대편 땅인 레닌 글라드를 떠올리기도 하고, 고대 시대에 있었던 마한이라는 나라를 불러오기도 한다. 대자연과의 합일된 세계를 꿈꾸면서도 그곳에서 소외된 자아를 그리기도 한다.

저자가 머리말에서 밝혔듯, 이 책의 어떤 시는 서정적이고 어떤 시는 노랫말(Lyrics)이 연상되고 또 어떤 시는 판타지 소설의 일부 같다. 독자들도 이 상상의 나래에 동참하게끔, 독자참여시도 두 편 실었다. 방대한 시의 세계로 함께 떠나 보자.
